Aquatic Crafts News, And Crochet Hook Holder WIP

Crochet Hook Holder

I’m back! Sorry for the long silence… the days and weeks are going by so quickly.

To those of you who have been patiently awaiting another Aquatic Crafts post, I have some news.

Over the summer, I had fantastic plans for craft ideas, projects, patterns and lots more to share on the Blog. But the weeks went by so fast, and now studies have picked up full speed. Summer has become more of a distant memory.

Which is to say…

I’ve decided to take a hiatus from this year’s Aquatic Crafts series, for the time being. I’ll likely bring it back next summer, depending on what craft ideas come up, and other crafters’ interests… we shall see. There will be a special post over the weekend, which will conclude this year’s Aquatic Crafts. For now, I’d like to share a penultimate Aquatic Crafts project.

Here it is!

Crochet Hook Holder

I thought it would be nice to make a simple, portable carry-case to keep all my crochet hooks, smaller knitting needles and other craft supplies together. In between studies, I set a goal to finish at least 1-2 rows per day. Thus far, it’s going pretty well; now to finish the main flap, attach a button and strap, and decorate with aquatic appliques! I’ve found that working on a seemingly monotonous craft project works best as a break from the larger projects of everyday life. The stress is less because the rows are all the same; no need to worry about row count. I didn’t have a set pattern in mind; it came together in its own way. 🙂

After starting the flap, I realized the back was a couple of stitches too short. Instead of frogging (pulling out) the last couple of rows, I’ve decided to keep it that way, and add an embroidered name tag at the back, as well as a strap, to fill in the space.

I embellished the opening with sl st, using the same yarn as the flap and bottom of the aquatic purse.
