Greetings, fellow crafters!
It has been a long time — too long. What started as a Much-Needed Break turned into several years of absence, for which I am deeply sorry.
Back in 2020, during lockdown, this site was overwhelmed with spam comments and notifications, and other Life things took precedence. Crochet burnout happened. And so I had to put this website on hold for a while.
Days stretched into weeks, months, and years. The Dolls and Fairies waited patiently, but it felt as though the good times of crochet and crafting were over.
Then one day, at the beginning of April, I realized something had to be done. Crochet Buddies needed to be brought back to life. Before the Long Break, this was an active online community. There was so much joy in sharing Craftventures, Yarnventures, patterns, photo stories, and much more. I realized how much I missed posting and sharing, and interacting with everyone. It wasn’t fair to leave all this creativity behind.
So at long last, Crochet Buddies has returned!
Since the last post, a few changes have taken place. The other Crochet Buddies have embarked on new adventures, in new directions. So currently, I’m the only human here.
The Doll Family and Fairies are still around. In fact, they’re starting new creative endeavors, which I’ll share more about in another post.
I’ve redesigned the website again, to reflect the change between now and previously, and the time before that. It feels as though each era needs a complete redesign — a new and refreshed look for the entire site, including the Forum.
Speaking of the Forum…
I’m really sorry to all the forum users who must have been wondering what happened to Crochet Buddies. It wasn’t fair to close discussion indefinitely, and I now realize the extent of my mistake.
Going forth, I will be more cautious about Forum moderation, because there were so many spam comments and accounts for a while (thousands). The goal of Crochet Buddies is to remain an interactive site and Forum, among other things, so the Forum will stay open — just heavily moderated. The spam users have been cleared out, and so have the comments, thank goodness!
The goal for 2025 and beyond is for Crochet Buddies to return to what it was, and for the crochet and craft community to thrive once again.
So… here’s to a new beginning. Thank you for reading this, and thank you for being here.
