What To Do When You Have Crochet Cabin Fever

Are you feeling what I’m feeling? That subtle hint of cabin fever in the middle of summer? If so, you’re definitely not alone. Summer is meant to be productive, relaxing, fun. But sometimes it can be exasperating and blah–especially if the weather isn’t cooperating. If you’re wondering how to stay productive over the sweltering months, but aren’t sure how to go about it (or are in need of some craft motivation), it’s time to develop a good strategy to be fulfilled and feel that you’ve achieved a number of things. And that’s what I’ll be addressing today. Or rather, what I’ll be addressing more thoroughly in future posts; this is just the tip of the iceberg. 😉

Productivity isn’t always defined by how well you manage your time. Good time management is super important, but feeling up to the challenge is equally significant. And you can’t work on that if you feel obligated to complete (often) unnecessary things, such as checking emails, surfing the web, or–let’s face it–procrastinating.

My main advice? Turn off your computer. Turn off your phone. Get away from all the electronics around you. Go somewhere you’ll know will isolate you and your craft bag, in a positive way. Whether you’re in an air-conditioned room, at a café, or in the middle of the woods, find a place where you can be yourself and create. You can either tune out of everyone and everything around you; or, conversely, draw from what you observe in a setting and use it as inspiration to incorporate into your own work. See how far that takes you.

And that’s my advice for today. A little brief, but it’ll help you go a long way with crochet motivation, and keeping your projects consistent.

I suppose it’s also time for another announcement: starting next week, there will be a new special post… drum roll please… Music Motivation Mondays! I have too many endless lists of song titles stored away in old text files. The poor songs haven’t been shared yet, and should be. Therefore, it’s time to dedicate a weekday on this Blog to sharing music that will help with any and all craft endeavors. Which means that aside from the designated weekend posts (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday), Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be the days for all other kinds of posts. (This “schedule” is by no means “fixed,” so don’t expect it to stay this way forever… it’s just this way for now.) I’m really curious to see how the next few weeks unfold. 🙂

If you have any song suggestions, titles, or any questions, please feel free to comment below!

Stay tuned for more crochet insight and other things, coming soon!~
