Well, hello, people! I (Orchid) sincerely apologize for yet another silence. I know I’d promised a crochet-related post three days ago, but thus far haven’t had the chance to crochet new things let alone photograph them. (We’re all in a funny point between travels where there’s a mixture of exhaustion and excitement.) So, this will be more of a preview of what’s to come. For those who are entirely new to Crochet Buddies, here is an overview or who we are and what this is all about. 🙂
June is actually looking to be a pretty busy month, crochet-wise. I’m not entirely sure yet whether I’ll be participating in any arts festivals this summer–although it would be cool to meet lots of people, including new crafters, there are lots of things to consider before jumping into another event. I’ll post more on that some other time.
Something else important that will be picking up pace this summer: Because of pre-college prep, aka intense studies and lots of traveling around, most of the dolls in the family have been put away, as there isn’t enough space to take all of them along. Being at that point where “playing” with them isn’t a social norm (which does make me quite irritated), earlier this year I foolishly decided it would be best to put them away and try to act like a “normal” teenager. Keep in mind that that was before I even considered reviving this blog and getting the website running.
Now that all this–blogging, opening the store to gather funds for university, sharing insight and making others happy with the things I crochet–is becoming a lovely reality, I’ve realized how much I miss having the companions around, and making things for them. It’s still not possible to take everyone along on this grand adventure. Nevertheless, before the more intense travels begin, one thing I’d really like to do is go back and get at least one of the larger dolls to bring with on our travels. Mom suggested that I also use this blog as a travelogue to show all the places we’re at and will be going. Mimi (my mascot) and a few other folks can come along as well. What do you think? 🙂
With the addition of Wren, Caoimhe and Fionnuala to the family, there will be an excellent abundance of topics to blog about. I’m really excited to see how everything turns out, as this may also be my last summer of decent “free time.”
In addition, this summer will be kind of a tryout to see how this Blog progresses, as well as getting to know fellow crocheters and crafters, new and experienced. I hope to keep these blog posts intriguing, informative and insightful… we’ll see how that goes. hehe
Some things will remain consistent throughout the summer: Weekly Wonder posts come every Sunday. Adventures with the Buddies posts may vary; while most will indefinitely come on Saturdays, there will be a good chance of additional AwtB posts also popping up frequently throughout the week, as there may be a lot to blog about at any given time. We shall see.
General posts will still be on weekdays, covering any topic that ranges from crochet and crafts to doll reviews and photo shoots.
Store-wise, new additions are coming, albeit a bit gradually. There should be at least one new item per week on the Products For Sale page. I’ll keep you all in the loop of things via this Blog.
Also, some new posts will be coming with more information, projects, and items pertaining to the Crochet Coral Reef Project, also a part of the Blog. Crochet Buddies is in no way affiliated with the official Crochet Coral Reef Project, Institute For Figuring, and so on. This is simply a way to share the fantastic world of crochet coral and its mathematical components, and to expand the scope of the amazing realm of hyperbolic crochet.
Well, now I guess it’s back to crochet productivity! Poor Wren is standing at the craft table looking deep in thought and staring into the abyss. Time to fix that. 😉
Hopefully in the next couple of days I’ll be able to take a trip out to a local craft store and get more materials–though it looks like more rain is on the horizon soon. Great.
That’s all for now. Take care, all! Talk to you soon!
